Window or Aisle? United Creates a Premium Feature for Travelers

Travelers have a new feature in United’s mobile app that lets them request the seat they want for free and be automatically moved if it’s not available when they book and is later released.

In July, United allowed more than 18,000 passengers to travel in their preferred seat, or almost 40% of passengers requested it.

Here’s how it works: The traveler requests the desired seat in the mobile application if the chosen seat is not available at the time of booking the flight. Simply select the seat you want, whether window or aisle side, near the emergency exits or behind the partition walls.

If the desired seat becomes available, it will be automatically assigned to the traveler. and the company will inform of its new location.

More than 3 million travelers use the United mobile app every day. The company is constantly adding useful features to it, expanding the possibilities offered to passengers and simplifying their travel experience. This is just the latest addition to the application.

United is the first and only U.S. airline to offer its passengers seat preference in its app.
