Everything is ready for the final tonight 11 May of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, which will see Angelina Mango competing on the stage of the Malmö Arena together with the other 25 finalists: the 20 artists selected during the two semi-finals, plus the outgoing winner Sweden and the ‘Big Five’: Spain, France, United Kingdom, Germany and Italy. “After the extraordinary audience of the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest (14% share with almost 3 million viewers; +6 % share points compared to last year)”, declared Rai Prime Time Entertainment director Marcello yesterday Ciannamea, “thanks also to the magnificent performance of Angelina Mango and the irresistible couple of commentators Mara Maionchi and Gabriele Corsi, all the anticipation focuses on the tonight’s final, broadcast in prime time on Rai 1which will see Angelina competing with all our support and that of the whole of Italy.”

The surprises

Many surprises will dot the last evening of the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, which marks the 50th anniversary of Abba’s historic victory in Brighton. After the homage to Swedish music and Alcazar, the great Eurovision winners will return to the stage to pay homage to the European champion quartet fifty years ago, performing their “Waterloo”: Charlotte Perrelli, born in 1974 (the year of the victory of the Abba) and winner for Sweden in 1999. Together with her, Carola, the artist who with her victory in Rome brought the festival to Malmö for the first time in 1992, and Conchita Wurst, winner for Austria 10 years ago on stage in Copenhagen.

To entertain the audience while waiting for the results of the vote there will be the performance of the outgoing winner Loreen, the first woman to have won two Eurovisions, who will perform the song that led to Liverpool’s triumph ‘Tattoo’ and the new single ‘Forever’ . But that’s not all: there will be other surprises for those who connect. Today will mark the arrival in Malmö of Mara Maionchi to talk together with Gabriele Corsi about the final that will be played at the Malmö Arena. Mario Acampa will instead be the spokesperson, announcing the result of the Italian jury’s vote during the final evening.

Where to watch the final

The final will also be broadcast live on radio and video on Rai Radio 2 (digital terrestrial channel 202 and TivùSat), hosted by Diletta Parlangeli and Matteo Osso. The couple will give space to great international music, reveal behind the scenes and talk about the semi-finalists’ competition. Rai Pubblica Utilità will make the final fully accessible also through Sign Language on a dedicated RaiPlay channel.

As many as 11 performers, both deaf and hearing, who began their preparation through remote rehearsals, will interpret both the 26 competing songs and the guests’ songs in Lis (Italian Sign Language) and Isl (International Sign Language). rhythm and emotions of each performance both to the audience at home and to those present in the studio. Two interpreters will instead translate the conducting part into Lis. The live broadcast will also be available in streaming on RaiPlay and will be broadcast all over the world thanks to Rai Italia.
