VIDEO – He has several shows scheduled and all sold out: the 56-year-old actor and director is a phenomenon in the current gloomy panorama. His shows, sometimes wordless but always colourful, are unanimously appreciated by the public.
First there was the success of Wait – more than 500 performances -, then the tour of his transgressiveness Operaporno. The last piece of him, The adults skate well, still in this vein of uninhibited theatre, is performed every evening at the Saint-Georges theater (1) in Paris and every week in the region. Today it is In your heart which the Théâtre du Rond-Point invites him to repeat (2). Created in 2018 with the Akoreacro circus company, it is a delightful show where laughter and emotions take over in a very circus-like universe. In the stage adaptation of this show created under a tent, the playwright and actor enjoys giving a burlesque but above all unexpected twist to the artists’ extraordinary acrobatics.
Aside from success, what do all these pieces have in common? We could summarize quirky, situational comedy and down-to-earth humor, with even some gestural scissor work. Pierre Guillois, with his popular and surprising productions, gives free rein to an overflowing imagination with always disconcerting results. This great con man loved to entertain his friends as a teenager, no doubt a way for him to overcome his shyness. One thing is for sure, in the microcosm of public theater where comedy doesn’t have good press, people are demanding when their name is mentioned. Would anyone be jealous of the thousands of spectators who have already attended his performances? Who knows ! But don’t listen to piss vinegar, run fast to please and amaze yourself.
