As a travel destination, Algeria offers visitors a unique experience at much more affordable prices than Europe.
For women, for example, the country is full of quality wellness services. It can range from beauty treatments to moments of relaxation, services offered at very advantageous prices.
Whether it’s a session at the hairdresser, a beauty treatment or a traditional hammam the offer is varied and accessible. Here’s an overview.
1- Hammam and spa
A true institution in Algeria, hammams offer an essential experience for relaxation. To get the most out of it without spending too much, it is advisable to avoid spas prestigious hotels which are often too expensive.
Instead, we turn to traditional hammams, which are much more convenient, such as Hammam El Meskhoutine in Guelma, Hammam Soukhna in Sétif, or Hammam Righa, a famous spa resort in the wilaya of Ain Defla.
In this type of complex it is possible to plan an entire wellness stay, staying in a hotel room or in a dedicated bungalow, and taking advantage of the various services (massages, vibro-massage, hot baths, swimming pools, etc.) at prices ranging from 500 to 1,000 dinars.
In large cities, many wellness centers offer a combination of hammam, spa, sauna and individual or collective baths, enough to treat yourself to a moment of relaxation without having to travel too far.
2- Hairstyle and coloring
Another interesting service, hairdressers in Algeria offer quality services and are much cheaper than in France. If in France cutting, drying, coloring, balayage, highlights or hair care cost between 30 and 150 euros, prices range from 500 to 15,000 dinars for the most expensive services.
For those who wish to enhance their hair at a lower cost, keratin straightening, hair botox, protein-based hair care or even star coloring, are much more accessible in Algeria.
3- Skin care
After the hairstyle, it’s time for aesthetics! Algerian beauty salons offer professional services at more affordable prices than those practiced in Europe.
Whether it’s a cleansing, hydrating or brightening treatment, the treatments offered include high-end products.
For skin cleansing, for example, a treatment that includes exfoliation, steam, elimination of blackheads and pimples, facial massage and application of masks, prices range from 4,000 to 8,000 dinars, while in France they reach 55 euros (over 13,500 dinars).
4- Nail salon
In Algeria, nail care is a popular, accessible and excellent quality sector. There are many salons that specialize in nail beauty and offer a wide range of services to cater to these women. They range from classic manicures to semi-permanent or gel polish applications.
As for prices, on average we are talking about 2,000 to 4,000 dinars, while the same services in France reach 80 euros for gel applications, which is more than 5 times the price in Algeria.
5- Shopping
Even if shopping is not an activity reserved for women, they can particularly appreciate the diversity of what is on offer in Algeria. In addition to the essential traditional clothes, you can find excellent clothing collections depending on the season.
Shopping centers and ready-to-wear shops are full of the latest fashions, and those who want to stock up on clothes from brands such as Zara, Bershka or Kiabi can indulge themselves to their heart’s content.
In addition to clothes and shoes, it is interesting to buy some good local cosmetic products. These prove to present excellent value for money, whether for hair products, toiletries, care or beauty.
Algerian brands typically have a monopoly on the market, offer counterfeit luxury products, and are widely validated by users.
This also applies to make-up items, which are particularly interesting: a beauty blender sponge costs 19 euros at Sephora France, while in Algeria it costs 200 dinars, or less than 1 euro.
